Mimecast

Our new email security product called Mimecast. This service will monitor outgoing and incoming emails for Gordon County for viruses, phishing, and other tactics used either to access our systems or other nefarious purposes.

  • If an email address is mistyped or otherwise incorrect previously Google will send multiple emails for a week about the inability to send the email. With Mimecast you will receive one email response such as the following:

  • We will have the following message appended under your email signature to ensure confidence in the integrity of the message:

Confidentiality Notice:

Gordon County is subject to Georgia Statutes relating to public records. Email sent or received by County employees are subject to these laws. Unless otherwise exempted from the public records law, senders and receivers of County email should presume that the email is subject to release upon request, and to state record retention requirements. This e-mail message and attachments, if any, are intended solely for the use of the addressee hereof. In addition, this message and attachments, if any, may contain information that is confidential, privileged and exempt from disclosure under applicable law. If you are not the intended recipient of this message, you are prohibited from reading, disclosing, reproducing, distributing, disseminating, or otherwise using this transmission. Delivery of this message to any person other than the intended recipient is not intended to waive any right or privilege. If you have received this message in error, please promptly notify the sender by e-mail and immediately delete this message from your system.

This email has been scanned for viruses and malware, and may have been automatically archived by Mimecast, a leader in email security and cyber resilience.

  • You may receive Mimecast emails after sending an email if there is something suspicious in an attachment.
  • There will be other changes as we eventually protect inbound email and we will keep you up to date when the time comes.

You will be receiving emails from Mimecast about held messages at noon on weekdays to let you know about any that are caught by the filters that do not have viruses or phishing attempts in them, as those are held for IT. These emails come from postmaster@gordoncounty.org

An example of my own is below:

As you can tell from my own list above the majority of the emails blocked are spam so you can choose to ignore the emails or click on the link to block the senders as well. You can also view all messages in the Personal Portal link.

If you click on a link in an email, you will be prompted to enter your email address and check it for a code to enroll your computer/mobile device in Mimecast protection. This is to protect you from any bad links that manage to get through the filters. See the picture below:

If anyone is missing an expected email or has any trouble with the emails or portal please feel free to reach out to us and we will help you out.
